OU TAKES A STEP BACK

When Kevin and I made our predictions for the OU Missouri game, we did not know some key facts.  First we did not know the Ryan Broyles had an ankle injury where he was wearing a plastic shell cast on his ankle pregame. Ryan did not play his usual great game because of his injuries. He dropped key passes which he never does.  Ronnel Lewis The Hammer he is called and our best special teams player is gone for the season.  We needed him at the first of the game when Missouri ran back the kickoff to go ahead 7-0.  Demarco Murray cut his finger somehow before the game needed stitches before the game which strangely bothered him in my opinion.  Demarco was wide open on Missouri's ten yard line when he caught a pass that everyone knew in the stadium would let him dance into the endzone untouched.  Demarco caught it and fell down ugh!  That was important because the first signs of Bad Landry Jones (see previous blogs on good and bad Landry). Landry throws a screen pass to a triple covered Demarco Murray and it is intercepted and Missouri gets another gift touchdown.  Instead of 14-7 OU lead it is a 7-14 need to catchup.   It went that way all night.  The defensive line could not get even a small pass rush on the Missouri QB so he had a great night because who wouldn't when you are not ever touched.  They could not even blitz and touch him. Brent Venables the defensive coordinator seems totally to have not planned for the Missouri running game ( which did not exist until Saturday), they got first down after first down because of it.  Landry Jones showed that he could not handle the pressure of coming back in the fourth quarter by not completing a pass and throwing most in the dirt.  As long as we are cruising Landry Jones can pass with the best of them, but he seems to only look to one side of the field.  If the receiver is wide open on the other side forget it.  Jimmy Stevens also could not hit a key field goal because of the angle which he misses every time. He is not a prime time player we need somebody next year bad.  ALL in all it was not a good night.  National Championship dreams are gone, but we can still win the Big 12 so lets do it.  OU plays Colorado at home I think they will hang a half a hundred on them.  Go Sooners.
