11 Players that Need to have fantastic years for the Sooners to win it all

No.11 Jimmy Stevens; Jimmy went to a kicking coach in the offseason and supposedly has a much stronger leg now and has improved his accuracy. His biggest impediment to starting this season is Bob Stoops is not a fan.  When Jimmy was 13 of 16 in field goals , he missed an extra point and promptly was replaced with Patrick OHARA who missed 3 out of 4 field goals.  This year is do or die for Jimmy he has to be more consistent or its riding the pine for the rest of his career. Bottom Line we need a consistent Field goal kicker I don't care who it is but he has to make the field goals Bob.

Possible Replacements; Patrick O'Hara, Michael Hunnicutt

No.10 Dejaun Milller; Dejaun is a big powerful receiver who catches the ball well.  He has always looked to me really awkard in running routes.  This year he must step up and be an all big 12 receiver for the Sooners.  Kenny Stills and Joe Powell are both showing that they will be stars.  Dejaun can hold them off but will he?

Possible replacements Cameron Kenney, Jaz Reynolds

No.9 James Hana; for years we have been hearing what a great receiver this Tight end is but a walk on Trent Ratterree, which I hope they keep playing because he catches the ball when thrown to him, has got the starting job.  James Hana has this year to prove he is the talent everyone says he is.   If he does become a star he is the poster boy for my gripe against Bob Stoops not redshirting people unless they are hurt policy.  James Hana in 2008 had one pass thrown to him. Way to burn a redshirt Bob that vast experience he got from that one pass really paid dividends -- NOT... Possible Replacement Trent Ratterree

NO.8 Demontre Hurst; Fierce hitter blazing speed one of the stars for the Sooners. Can he be a great cover guy as cornerback? My only worry is his 5'9" height.  Florida State and Texas will have receivers that are 6'3" to 6'5" that is a big height advantage when fighting for an incoming pass.  If anyone can do it Demontre can. Possible Replacement: Aaron Colvin

No. 7 Quinton Carter;  Another fierce hitter who will make receivers and QBs pay for coming into his territory.  This awesome Senior must be a leader for the defensive Secondary and shut down the opponents passing game.

Possible Replacement: Sam Proctor

  • No.6 Tom Wort:  With the injury to Austin Box, it is more important than ever that Tom Wort have a breakout season and show the talent he has been billed as having at linebacker. He must be great and stay healthy.

Possible Replacement: Jaydan Bird, Austin Box

No.5 Donald Stevenson:  As the Heir Apparent of Trent Williams who anchored the the Crucial Left Tackle position for the Sooners last year.  This Gigantic Man is 6'6" 312 pounds he must be as dominating as the coaches claim he can be.  Stephen Good will be the Left Guard.  They both must protect Landry Jones for the Sooners to win it all.

 Possible Replacements Jarvis Jones

No. 4 STACY MCGEE:  In Order for the Sooners to win it all somebody is going to have to replace Gerald McCoy.  Adrian Taylor is recovering from injuries suffered last year, so Stacy Mcgee has the tools and the talent, he is young but it is him or Jamarkus Mcfarland and Stacy is bigger and maybe faster.

Replacement Adrion Tayler, Jamarkus Mcfarland

No 3.  Demarco Murray Everybody knows Demarco is critical for the Sooners to win it all.  He must stay healthy all year, and have his speed back this year.  I was encouraged to hear he did not bulk up on the weights like he did in the past.  I thought it slowed him down a little bit.  He seems to think so to.  He is even taking martial arts and yoga to keep his legs in good shape so no more ham strings and ankle sprains hopefully.  Go Demarco you got to be an all american this year for the Sooners sake.

Possible Replacement  Jonathan Miller, Jeramie Calhoun.

No. 2 Ryan Broyles:  No question we need Ryan to have a even better year than last year.  Which is saying a lot since he was OU's best player last year.  Another one that needs to stay healthy all year for the Sooners.  He is cat quick with incredible moves.  We hope the combination of Demarco Murray and Ryan Broyles will devestate all the defenses that OU faces this year.

Possible Replacements:  NOBODY

No.1 Landry Jones:  Yep you guessed it.  Landry has to be great this year at QB at home AND AWAY from home.  He can be forgiven last year for being thrown into to the fire when he may not have been completely ready.  I really thought Landry had his break out game in the Sun Bowl.  He showed himself how he will be this year vastly improved and a more confident QB.  Sam is gone it is Landry's Team now.  Key games where Landry has to step it up and have no interceptions.  Florida State(home), Cincinnati (AWAY), Texas**** (Nuetral), Missouri (Away), and Texas A&M (AWAY), OSU (AWAY).  Heck they are all important games.

Possible Replacements: Drew Allen, Blake Bell
